Which Vacuum Attachment Should I Use? Radiator Brush

January 11, 2017

It used to be that cleaning the floors was super-easy – you simply retrieved your stick broom from the front porch and swept yourself out of the house. With the invention of luscious, glorious, soft-and-cosy carpet, life improved exponentially. Ahh, there’s nothing like the feeling of sinking your tootsies into the soft, deep pile of fabulous carpet. But cleaning it can feel like an overwhelming task when you’re confronted with a myriad of hose and vacuum attachments, gadgets and gizmos. Is there really ever a time you need to use a short, bendy hose attachment with a really skinny circle of brush bristles on the tip?

In our epic 11-part series, we’ll demystify vacuum attachments and help you get the best look and wear out of your luscious carpets.

This week we’ll look at that trusty standby – the radiator brush.

How It Works: This stiff-bristle piece fits over the crevice tool of Miele vacuums and is thin enough to wedge between home radiator fins for fast effective cleaning. If your machine isn’t a Miele, use a bottle brush to dislodge the debris, then suck it up with your vacuum’s dusting tool.

Other Ideas: Run it over refrigerator coils and vent slats. The bristles make quick work of stubborn buildup.

And there we have it – how to use your radiator brush.

In our epic 11-part series, we’ll demystify vacuum attachments and help you get the best look and wear out of your luscious carpets.

This week we’ll look at that trusty standby – the car-cleaning nozzle.

How It Works: This four-inch-wide wedge-shaped tool attaches to the hose of a wet-dry vacuum to provide targeted suction on carpeted car mats. It grabs every last bit of sand or animal crackers.

Other Ideas: Try it on patio furniture. It’s more precise than hosing, so you’ll get a more nitty-gritty-free clean.

And there we have it – how to use your trusty car-cleaning nozzle.   Next week we’ll look at the radiator brush tool.

And, as always, if you find yourself presented with a carpet cleaning issue they just don’t make enough vacuum attachments for, give the professionals at BCS a call on 801 561 1730.
