You’ll need:

  • 1 roll of paper towels
  • 1 box of baking soda. It doesn’t have to be a new box. The one that’s been keeping the freezer fresh for the past couple of months will work just fine. Just take a sniff to make sure that it smells better than what’s on the bed now.
  • 1 bottle of white vinegar
  • 1 large bowl
  • A vacuum with an upholstery attachment

Step 1) Fill half the bowl with vinegar and fill the other half with water.

Step 2) Gently dab up the liquid mess with the paper towel. Carefully remove any sheets and mattress covers for laundering later. Press firmly with fresh towels to absorb more liquid. Do not squeeze or twist the foam.

Step 3) Wet a paper towel with the vinegar/water solution and dab it where the vomit was. Press gently, then immediately use a fresh dry towel to mop it up. Keep this up until you’ve covered the entire stained area.

Step 4) Pour the whole box of baking soda onto the stain. Yes, the whole box. Spread it out so that you get a generous layer that extends a couple of inches beyond the stain(s).

Step 5) Let the baking soda sit there for a couple of hours. Then vacuum it up.

And hey presto! Order has been restored. Or, if it hasn’t quite, give the experts at BCS Cleaning Utah a call at 801 561 1730.

How Do I Clean My Memory Foam Mattress?

September 14, 2017

Ahhh, the blissful, cloud-like luxury of a good memory foam mattress. And the troubling uncertainty about how the clean the thing. Have no fear – our four-step guide is here! And if you’re still having problems, give the Utah and Park City cleaning experts at BCS a call at 801 561 1730 – we’ll have you spit-spot in no time!

1 Vacuum Your Memory Foam Mattress Thoroughly

Use a hand-held or regular vacuum with a brush attachment. This will help to remove extra lint or dirt and will enable you really get in the cracks and remove any dust buildup.

2 Treat With Homemade Solution

Fill a spray bottle with 1/2 cup fabric cleaner and 1 cup water. Shake well to make sure that the cleaner is completely mixed with the water before you start spraying. Place the mattress or mattress topper in your bathtub or on a tarp near an outdoor water source. Spray the memory foam mattress with your cleaning solution until it is completely covered, front and back. Let the mattress sit for 30 to 45 minutes. Rinse off the mattress in the shower or with a hose.

3 Second Treatment

Empty, rinse out and refill your spray bottle with 1/4 cup vinegar and 3/4 cup water. Shake well to combine. Spray the vinegar solution all over your memory foam mattress. Rinse the mattress again, getting all of the solution out. Clear out excess water by gently pressing on the mattress. Be careful to not twist or fold the mattress as that may cause permanent damage or warping.

4 Dry the Mattress Completely

Use a small fan or hair dryer to get the drying process going. Leave the mattress outside or in a well-ventilated area to dry. It may take a couple days to fully dry. You can use the hair dryer or fan every few hours to help speed the drying process along.

How Do I Clean Cola Soda Coke From My Mattress?

September 7, 2017

So the kids were bouncing around on your bed and managed to spill a glass of Coca cola all over your lovely mattress, eh? Soda (and coke in particular) can be sticky and nasty to remove, but follow our simple steps and you’ll have your mattress good as new in no time.
Step 1

Strip your mattress of all sheets and bedding and launder them as normal.

Step 2

Sprinkle baking soda over the entire surface to absorb any liquid and most of the stain. Don’t be afraid to empty an entire 1-pound box onto the mattress. Baking soda is truly a miracle product! Leave the baking soda over the affected area for several hours at least.

Step 3

Using a clean spray bottle, spray a solution of soapy water (regular dish detergent is perfect) over the area and use a clean cloth to rub any remaining stain. The detergent will help to loosen and lift any stain particles.

Step 4

Pour a little carbonated water over the area and blot dry with another clean, dry cloth. The bubbles in the water will help lift everything to the surface so it can be blotted up.

If the above seems like a lot of hard work, give the experts at BCS Cleaning Utah a call. We’ve been cleaning everything that stands still long enough in homes for decades, and can easily take care of your mattress with your regular carpet cleaning. How Do I Clean Remove Vomit Throw Up Sick From My Mattress?

September 7, 2017

Ick. Of all the nasty messes one could have to deal with on a mattress (or basically anywhere), vomit is probably the nastiest. That being said, with a few simple steps (and a clothes peg for your nose) you’ll have your mattress restored to cleanliness in a jiffy.

  1. For particularly liquid vomit, pour an absorbant, organic powder over the area to help absorb the liquid. Sawdust, cornstarch or flour are all good options and highly absorbent.
  2. Use a spoon or spatula to scoop the vomit into a bag (make sure there are no holes!) or dustpan.
  3. Use carbonated water on paper towels or a sponge to wipe away as much of the remaining residue as possible. The bubbles in the carbonated water help to lift the stain.
  4. Thoroughly spray the area with an enzyme-digesting cleaner, making sure to follow the directions on the bottle. The usual process for enzyme-digesters is to allow the product to soak into the area and then to air dry. The enzyme-digester will continue to eat all of the organic material until it is gone. Hooray.
  5. Sponge water or club soda onto the area and blot away the liquid to remove any residue from the cleaner.
  6. If any smell lingers, sprinkle the area with baking soda and allow to sit for several hours, then sweep away. Alternatively, you can spray the area with a diluted vinegar solution to remove the smell.

And hey presto, your mattress should be back up to snuff (without the sniff) pronto. If you’re still having problems or if the whole process has you feeling distinctly queasy, give the experts at BCS Cleaning Utah a call at 801 561 1730. We’ll have you spit spot again in no time.
