Help! I’ve Spilled White Wine On My Carpet! | BCS Cleaning Specialists

Well, first off, PHEW! Thank goodness it was the white variety – much easier to handle than it’s rosy counterpart. And before you have an entirely blond moment, don’t try to remedy a white wine spill by pouring red wine on top of it. Let me tell you from experience, the results aren’t quite what you’d expect. Or maybe, if you’re not as blond as me, the results ARE what you’d expect.

Just follow our easy, 4-step system to wipe out that suspicious-looking yellowish stain from carpets in a jiffy:

1. Use a clean sponge or towel to soak up any excess liquid. Alternatively, dust the area with baking soda, leave it for 10 minutes to absorb the moisture, and vacuum the powder up.
2. Apply a commercial carpet cleaner, or spray on (no pouring – we want a nice gentle mist) a diluted solution of washing up liquid and water onto the affected area.
3. Blot away the stain with a clean cloth. Do not rub as this may spread the stain, or push it into the carpet fibres.
4. Allow to air dry.
