1 Pick up as much of the solid mess as you can with paper towels.

2 Spray on a solution of one part white vinegar to two parts cool water with a clean spray bottle. 

3 Blot and allow to dry. This will disinfect and de-smelly the area. 

4 If there is a stain left, use a carpet spot-treatment to endeavor to get the last of it up.
